Newswise — Reston, VA — Nominations are being accepted for the 2016 Leadership Luminary Award, an annual program of the Radiology Leadership Institute® (RLI). This honorary designation is given annually to professionals who possess exceptional experience and have demonstrated an unusually high level of leadership in organized radiology or organized medicine.

“The Leadership Luminary Award celebrates the lifetime achievements of individuals who have devoted their professional careers to the advancement of the science or practice of radiology or radiation oncology,” said Frank J. Lexa, MD, MBA, RLI chief medical officer and chair of the American College of Radiology Commission on Leadership and Practice Development. “Please consider nominating those innovators and trailblazers who have met the requirements for this distinguished honor,” he added.

The RLI, the American College of Radiology professional development and leadership academy, will recognize award recipients at the 2016 RLI Leadership Summit Sept. 8–11 in Wellesley, MA. Previous honorees of the program, which began in 2012, include Leonard Berlin, MD, FACR; Bruce J. Hillman, MD, FACR; Sarah S. Donaldson, MD, FACR; and James H. Thrall, MD, FACR.

To be eligible for this honorary designation, candidates should exhibit the following qualities: visionary leadership, motivation/inspirational leadership, integrity, responsibility, generativity and creativity—as well as contributing to the radiology community through professional and leadership achievements.

Nomination forms must be submitted online by Feb. 19, 2016. Submissions must include a nomination letter that must outline and summarize how the nominee meets the nomination criteria. The nominee's curriculum vitae must be included and must provide adequate information concerning the leadership accomplishments of the candidate. The RLI board is the governing body that makes decisions concerning the selection of the recipients of the Leadership Luminary awards.
