SpaceX recently announced that they will make an attempt to land a launched rocket on a land-based pad instead of one in the ocean. NASA has confirmed this attempt will take place at the Cape Canaveral, Florida base. Although there's not an official date and time of this solid-ground landing attempt yet, sources say this could happen "sooner than you think."
