Newswise — Trauma is the fifth-leading cause of death in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control. It creates a substantial burden in lost productivity, increased disabilities and the consumption of health-care resources.
Each year, hundreds of adults and pediatric patients receive life-saving care in the Level I Trauma Center at Loyola University Medical Center. To honor those who overcame the adversity of trauma, hundreds of former patients and the physicians, surgeons, nurses and staff who helped cared for them will come together this weekend to celebrate the first Fall Festival of Life: Honoring Our Trauma Patients.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 17, in the cafeteria of the Stritch School of Medicine, which is on the campus of Loyola University Medical Center, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood.
Hundreds of patients are expected to attend the event that will feature patient testimonials, refreshments, entertainment and small giveaways.
