Overlooked lipid connected to ancient cellular pathway with links to cancer
Sanford Burnham PrebysBrooke Emerling, Ph.D., co-director of, and associate professor in, the Cancer Metabolism and Microenvironment Program at Sanford Burnham Prebys, is contributing to a revival of interest in an underappreciated set of enzymes called phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate 4-kinases (PI5P4Ks). In a study published in Science Signaling, Emerling and co-senior author Raymond Blind, Ph.D., at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, shared new findings which open up research avenues to tackle aggressive cancers.
