The majority of patients seeking help for addiction arrive in the Alton A. Hovnanian Emergency Care Center in a state of crisis. The addition of a licensed chemical dependency counselor would provide timely and critical assessment and outreach to patients during this severe time of need.

On July 11, Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike’s Subs, chaired Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation’s 33rd annual Sports Classic Golf Tournament at the Deal Golf and Country Club and Hollywood Golf Club in Deal, NJ. The sold-out event hosted 260 golfers, and raised a record-breaking $340,000 in support of cardiovascular programs and other areas of greatest need at Jersey Shore, part of the Hackensack Meridian Health family. Bob Mullen, chief executive office of Structure Tone and J. Scott Ferguson, vice president of Carrickmore, served as co-chairs.

During Meridian Health’s Annual Meeting on June 8, 2016, John Lloyd, FACHE, president and CEO of Meridian Health announced that Mrs. Carol Stillwell, president of Stillwell-Hansen, Inc., has generously pledged to donate $3 million to Riverview Medical Center’s 29,000 square foot BuildingHOPE oncology expansion project. The $3 million donation will specifically support the newly renovated infusion center, featuring 20 new infusion areas lined with floor to ceiling windows that provide patients with a tranquil view of the Navesink River. The infusion area will officially be named the Larkin-Stillwell-Hansen Infusion Center.

The Diabetes Self-Management program at Bayshore Community Hospital is pleased to announced that it has received re-certification from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for the fourth time for meeting the national standard. The ADA process requires the submission of an annual status report, additional documentation, as well as an unannounced inspection. Hospitals must re-apply every four years.

The annual Superhero Soiree, hosted by K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, took place on Friday, April 29 at the Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, NJ and raised $140,000 for pediatric palliative care. During the event, Kyra Citron, director of the Kid’s Corner at Charles Lafitte Foundation (CLF), was presented with the Hometown Hero Award and Charles K. Dadzie, M.D. a pediatric pulmonologist at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, received the Physician Hero Award. The Hero awards are presented annually to honor philanthropists and leaders in the community for outstanding service to others in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
